Script for Christian Wedding Ceremony in the Philippines

Here is the scripting for the Christian wedding ceremony that we had last JANUARY 2015

You can have your pastor check if they want to edit it. That is the beauty of Christian weddings, you

can customize the symbolism that you want.

Hope this helps!

  1. Processional

III Minister’s Introduction (No music)

Pastor:   Dearly beloved, we are gathered here this afternoon to celebrate a commitment of love, a commitment (Name of Couple) believe, is the leading of the Holy Spirit.

IV Opening Prayer / Scripture Reading

Pastor: Who brings this woman to be married to this man?

Father of the Bride: Her mother and I!

Prayer by Pastor: Let us pray, Heavenly Father, we thank you for this wonderful day; and for the presence of the Holy Spirit during this ceremony. We thank you for what this moment represents, and for what shall transpire as (Whole Names of the Couple) commit their lives to each other. I thank you that Jesus shall be exalted and that every person here will not only witness Your power and love, at work in (Name of Couple)  lives, but that each one present will realize Jesus’ love and commitment to the Church.

Emcee: Please remain standing for the reading of the Holy Scriptures.

Scripture Reading: (name of scripture reading)

This reading is from the book of Genesis 2:18-24

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. But for Adam[a] no suitable helper was found. 21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs[b] and then closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib[c] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

23 The man said,  “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’
for she was taken out of man.” 24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

Emcee: Please be seated

Pastor: As your hearts are joined together in love, will you please join your right hands.

(Name of Groom), do you solemnly promise before God and these witnesses, that you will love (Name of Bride), respect her, comfort her, and honor her all the days of your life?

Groom: I do.

Pastor Art: Bride, do you solemnly promise before God and these witnesses, that you will love groom, respect him, comfort him, and honor him all the days of your life?

Bride: I do.

Pastor: Do you Groom, take Bride to be your wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to cherish with devoted love and faithfulness till death do you part?

Groom: I do.

Pastor: Do you Broide, take Groom to be your husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to cherish with devoted love and faithfulness till death do you part?

Bride: I do.

VII Personal Vows

Pastor: You may now share your personal vows with each other.

Groom: (say vow to bride)

Bride: (say vow to groom)

VIII Ring Ceremony

Pastor: May we have the rings please.  (ring bearer gives rings)

Pastor: The rings are symbols of the covenant that groom and bride are entering into and establishing this day.

These rings are never ending circles, indicating the continuing and eternal love of God with which you are to love one another. These rings are made of precious metal (gold), one that is not easily tarnished. This represents how valuable and precious your marriage covenant is in God’s sight.

Bless, O Lord, these rings that the one who gives it and the one who wears it may live in your peace and continue in your favor, all the days of their life through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Groom: Bride, I give you this ring as a symbol of my vow, and with all that I am, and all that I have, I honor you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Groom: Groom, I give you this ring as a symbol of my vow, and with all that I am, and all that I have, I honor you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

IX Coin Ceremony (Coin bearer gives the coins to groom)

Groom: Bride, I give you these coins as a pledge of my dedication to your welfare in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Veil & Cord Ceremony

Song:  Cherish the Treasure (Artuz 101)

Emcee:  May we call on the veil sponsors to place the veil on the couple.

(Sponsors place veil on Groom’s right shoulder and over Bride’s veil)

By placing the veil over the head of the woman and on the shoulder of the man, we are affirming the Biblical principle of headship of the man. As we read in the passage, the woman was taken from the man’s side. Not from his head to rule the man, not from his feet to be trampled upon by him, but by his side, to be a help and support to him; from under his arms to be protected by him; and near his heart to be loved and cherished by him.

Emcee: May we call on the cord sponsors to place the cord.

(Sponsors place the cord over (Name of Couple’s) shoulder)

The cord symbolizes that marriage is a lifelong and unbreakable bond. By tying these two people together, we are affirming the Biblical teaching that God intended marriage to last a lifetime.

(End Music)

Pastor: May I request the parents to please stand. In the past you have known (Name of Couple)  as individual persons. Now they are joined together in matrimony. Do you give them your blessing as they now commit themselves to one another?
